Nextphase Research Site and Trials in Detroit is evaluating an investigational medication for the prevention of migraine attacks in children and teens. Researchers are studying whether this investigational medication can safely and effectively reduce monthly migraine days.

If your child qualifies, they’ll be randomly assigned to receive either rimegepant or placebo in the first 12 weeks of treatment in the study, then, at the completion of this treatment phase, eligible participants receive active treatment (i.e., rimegepant) for additional 52 weeks.

The medication is taken every other day.

The dose depends on the child’s age and weight. The study team will determine the correct dose, so the family doesn’t have to figure that out themselves.

The medication is an orally disintegrating tablet (ODT), meaning it dissolves in the mouth.

During these 12 weeks, your child will continue to:

• Take the study medication every other day.
• Record migraines and symptoms in the electronic diary.
• Record any rescue medication they take.
• Attend scheduled study visits.
• Have their health and medication use monitored by the study team.
